The Campaign Trail: Decision 2000
The Democratic National Convention
In the wake of a disastrous primary campaign between Vice President Al Gore and Senator Bill Bradley, the Democratic National Convention has been deadlocked! Uncommitted delegates make up a majority of the convention, but Gore leads Bradley in the official counts. Power players, such as Bill Clinton, Ann Richards, Paul Wellstone, and many others hold significant sway in how the convention will select its next nominee. The first task this committee must complete is selecting a winning ticket, one President and one Vice President. The committee will then run a campaign against whomever the eventual Republican nominee will be. Delegates must also decide the future of the direction the Democratic Party will take through continuously working on their party platform. Will Democrats keep the White House in November?
