Rois et Pions: The Congress of Vienna, 1814
In the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars, Europe lies shattered, its borders redrawn and the ancient balance of power upended. Representatives of the great powers of the continent gather in Vienna to negotiate a new world order. The Congress seeks to restore stability and prevent the resurgence of revolutionary movements like that which brought Napoleon to power. The delegates aim to reestablish monarchies, redraw territorial lines, and ensure lasting peace through a balance of power. Yet, rivalries and ambitions simmer beneath the surface as states vie for influence, territory, and security. Will the Congress succeed in forging a stable Europe, or will this fragile peace give way to decades more of war? In the shadow of Napoleon’s conquests, delegates must learn the waltz as they navigate the complexities of diplomacy, safeguard their national interests, and shape the destiny of the world.
